August goes to Preacher Prep and his friends were Julian and Jack. There was a Halloween party coming up and August was going to be Boba Fett but he was running late so he went in to the Bleeding Scream, the same costume as last years. When he came inside the classroom his Friends Julian and Jack were talking about august and not in a kind way August ran out the door I think crying on his way out.

The rest of the chapters I forgot but the one thing I and we need to remember is that we don't need to be cool, the best or the most popular. We were born for a reason and that reason is to enjoy life. 

Digital Footprint

On Friday,Room 14 had James come in to teach us about our digital footprint. We had to Google our name and see what comes up on images. We were looking at a padlet and it had a Negative and a Positive footprint. We all had to put a Positive and a Negative footprint. We also had to do 5-8 steps to have a positive footprint. 

Earthquakes!!

On Monday, We started a slideshow and it was all about an earthquake and what an earthquake does. On Thursday 15th We had a New Zealand Shake-out. At 9:15 we all had to get under a table and do the drill for about five minutes.

Recycling Trip

Last Wednesday, We had a trip to Visy, Onehunga. When we first walked in it smelled real bad. You can visit their website just by clicking here. It was a very short trip so I'd say it was a bit boring. But the thing I really liked about it is the glass next to the sidewalk.

Maths time with Bina

Today we were doing maths with Bina and we had to figure out a maths question. The question was Ripeka and Jan were sitting around playing with toothpicks when Ripeka started to make a pattern of squares. How many toothpicks would she need to make a pattern like this that had 9 squares? To be honest I did loads of mistakes. The first pattern had 4 toothpicks.

I got stuck on on the second pattern so Bina put us in partners. Savahn said 4+4 equals 8 so the answer is 8. We went back by our self. I was really confused because I only saw 7 sticks and thought it had to be a Even number.

We got more confused and then we got into 3 partners and made the 1st pattern, Then the second pattern, Then the third pattern, left the 3rd pattern and made the 9th pattern. We had write how we worked it out. I did 9 x 3 which equals 28.

The first answer we got was 36 so we did that answer. We have learnt a lot for this problem.

Maths Games

Today,We were making up some maths games that can help the younger kids learn some Addition,Subtraction and Multiplication and it might help you guys learn some new maths game as well.

Today we wrote some words that start with the letter C and it can help you with your life like school and education.

Art Day

Last week on Wednesday it was art day and everyone done all kinds of art but we were sketching a any kind of picture and painted it. I drew Jake and Finn with there tree house and Beemo was in it. We also framed it with blue card board strips.

We had to fade it and leave a little bit of white. We made stars to celebrate Matariki too. Some people decided to make another one. When we started to paint we had to make another one because if we painted our real one then it will go all over the place. That's why we had to make another one to practice painting.

Room 1 were making kites with straws and some plastic papers and I think it would of been hard.

Room 9 were drawing pacific flowers and some Patterns.

Room 13 were making a city. It really looked amazing and if details were added I would want to make a city.

Art day was really fun and I learnt some new techniques and we had art day because we reached four thousand sun shines and spun the wheel and landed on art day so that's how we had art day.

What We Have Learnt In Maths!

This Term we have been learning about volume and the 3 Dimensions which are The Length,Width and Height. 

 I was with Luciano and Faiupu and we were working out the volume of our Rectangular Prism and we came up with an easy way of working out the volume. We used the 3 Dimensions and Timed with 8x4=32x2=64  and that was our quickest way to finding the answer.

Then we got to something more difficult. Mrs. Moore got some boxes and we had to measure the length width and height. We got the biggest box so we needed a 1 meter ruler to measure. Beana told us that it's better to measure longest side for the length because it make's things easy. We had to times the Dimensions to get the answer. This box was really difficult to measure but we got our answer. We timed it with 10x60=600x29 This was really hard but we estimated it but we were close to the answer but finally we got it the answer was 18,000. We were surprised how much 1 cm cubes could fit in it.

At the start we had a look at the boxes and labeled it with A,B,C,D,E,F,G and H. We had to estimate the smallest to biggest. I did D,B,C,A,G,H,F,E. Everyone was confused with H,F and D,B. They were tricky to guess.

We all worked on a box to figure out the volume and we got the results. If you compare the results to my estimation I got it right!!

Maths was really fun and it helped to figure out the volume of any kind of box.

Water care: Magic Water

                

This presentation is about water and some tricks and scientific words that I described. We did an water experiments with a laddie called Sally. She even showed us a game that we could play at home.

Jump Rope for Heart!!

Jump rope for heart!!

On the 28 of September Kauri team went and were doing jump rope for Heart.

All of the class's went to skip mostly everyday and we really learnt new things.

Then we learnt how to criss cross and we were trying to do double dutch

We were doing relays and it was kind of hard but I never gave up.

We were doing double Dutch

and we got a partner and someone in the middle.

We were also jumping in an hula hoop and hoping with a thing you put on your leg and jump over it.

Jump Rope For Heart was really fun and it was a really good exercise.

Samoan Language Week!!

Samoan Language week!!

On May 24 it was Samoan Language Week and every morning we would sing the Samoan national anthem.

On Friday we had a Samoan assembly. Room 9 started off with some songs and dancing.

Then we got a story from Presley and Hermione about Samoa and what happened to Samoa.

We got three dance's from the girls and the dance's were really good.

Then we got a dance from Dwayne and Presley and then the second time all the boys joined in.

 The boys were doing the Samoan Hakka along with the room 9 boys.

Samoan Language week was really fun and I was amazed at how much time the Samoan people organised for the Samoan Assembly.

My Letter to Snow White

Last Last week it was book week and for book week we made a letter to Snow White. We had to make it interesting and give her some advise to her. We could been anyone in the story so I was grumpy. Hope You enjoy!

Dear Snow White.

I am the one and only Grumpy and I have read your story that I was in and it was really stupid! Well first why would you go into a stranger's house and sleep in there beds! Secondly why would you clean a strangers house, they might it want the way it is you know. Thirdly why would you listen to the huntsman and run away into the woods by yourself. Fourthly why would you listen to an old lady and let them inside when I said don’t let anyone in the house and eat the apple when you were making pies for me and the dwarfs. Lastly Why did you eat an apple from a stranger, you do know that you don’t eat or take anything from strangers!? You are so lucky that prince charming saved you from your sleep. Here is Some advice for you. Don’t Listen to a stranger and Next time wait for someone to answer the door. If Anyone isn’t in there just wait for them to come. Never let anyone into a stranger's house and don’t take anything from a stranger.

Speech Recognition

On Tuesday 9 June 2015 We were trying out something new. It was called Speech Recognition and we had to talk to our Chrome Book Like it was a 2 year old. I used the Speech Recognition to record this comment on a document and then copy and pasted it onto someone's else's Blog to comment. This could really help you write because this tool is very helpful and useful.

Room 14 Takes on Tennis

Room 14 Takes on Tennis!!

This term Room 14 were learning how to play tennis. First we learnt how to use a racket. We made an L with our hands and then made it into a V. We placed our V on the handle of the racket and we made sure our fingers were always facing the ground.

We had to balance on one leg while the ball is in the sweet spot for practice,the sweet spot is the middle of the racket.

Then it was time to take our skills on the courts. 
We first practised hitting the ball up in the sweet spot.

Then we got into partners and we were hitting the ball to each other and sandwiching it in the sweet spot.

Tennis was really challenging and it helped me develop my tennis skills.

ANZAC Biscuits

On Tuesday April Room 14 were making ANZAC biscuits and we worked in groups and carefully to read the instructions.

We first washed our hand's and then we were studying our ingredients

After that we started to put in the ingredients and  we were stool learning at the same time.

Then we rolled the oats in to balls and we were getting nervous and excited at the same time.

Finally we finish!! it smelt so yum we wanted to eat it all

Book Tracks

Today I read a book on book tracks. I read ghost book. As I was reading I heard scary sound effects and it was really terrifying, horrible and lots of horror. I highly recommend it on book tracks classrooms.
